1. The Crow and the Pitcher
In a spell of dry weather, when the Birds could find very little to drink, a thirsty Crow found a pitcher with a little water in it. But the pitcher was high and had a narrow neck, and no matter how he tried, the Crow could not reach the water. The poor thing felt as if he must die of thirst.
Then an idea came to him. Picking up some small pebbles, he dropped them into the pitcher one by one. With each pebble the water rose a little higher until at last it was near enough so he could drink. “In a pinch a good use of our wits may help us out.”
2. Friendship is the strongest weapon
It was hot summer. A lion went to a pool to drink water. Just then a pig also came there to quench his thirst. Both of them wanted to drink first. They looked at each other with blood-shot eyes and attacked each other with so much anger that soon they started bleeding. Feeling tired, both stopped for a while to be fresh.
Suddenly, they heard the screams of vultures. They saw that a large number of vultures were looking at them with longing eyes. In no time, both the beasts understood that the vultures were waiting for one of them to be killed by the other so that they might feed on his dead body. So both of them became friends, quenched their thirst and went away. Thus, their friendship saved their lives.
3. Doing as Mum told
Tom was seven years old, and he was going to school soon. He was a good boy, but he didn’t like to get up early. He slept until nine or ten o’clock in the morning.
His mother didn’t want Tom to be late for school. So she bought him an alarm clock. She said to Tom, “You must get up when you hear the clock ring.” After that, Tom got up when he heard the clock ring at six thirty every morning
One day, the clock didn’t work. Tom didn’t get up at six thirty. It was time for breakfu™™Uher went to wake him up. Tom said to his mother, “I woke up very early.” “Then why didn’t you get up?” Mother was angry. “You told me that I must get up when I heard the clock ring. So I’m stilỉ waiting for the bell
4. The Fox and The Grapes Story in English
One afternoon, a fox which was out for a walk in the jungle came across a bunch of grapes hanging. Its mouth watered at the very sight of the grapes. The fox thought to himself that if it could get the bunch of grapes, it would be just the thing to quench its thirst in the sweltering heat of the afternoon.
It jumped high to reach the bunch of grapes but failed. It tried again and again, but the fox missed it each time. After several failed attempts, the fox gave up and walked away saying that the grapes were too sour.
5. Who’s broken the window?
Billy and Bobby were small boys. They were brothers, and they often fought with each other. Last Saturday their mother said to them, ‘Tm going to cook our lunch now. Go out and play in the garden… and be good. “Yes, Mummy,” the two boys answered and they went out. They played for half an hour, and then Billy ran into the kitchen.
“Mummy,” he said, “Bobby’s broken a window in Mrs Allen’s house.” Mrs Allen was one of their neighbors. “He’s a bad boy,” his mother said, “How did he break it?”. “I threw a stone at him,” Billy answered, “and he quickly moved down.
6. Never tell a lies
On his deathbed, a father advised his son to always speak truth. The son promised that he would never tell a lie.
One day, while going to the city through a forest, he got surrounded by some robbers. One of them asked, “What do you have?”
The boy answered, “I have fifty rupees.”
They searched him but couldn’t find anything. When they were about to go, the boy called out, “I am not telling a lie. See this fifty rupee note which I had hidden in my shirt.”
The leader of the robbers felt pleased at the truthfulness of the boy, gave him hundred rupees as reward and went away.
7. Birds and a Baby
The baby was lying on her back. A blue bird flew in through the window. The blue bird had blue eyes. It sat on the baby’s crib. The bird had a bell around its neck. The bell rang. The baby smiled. The baby reached for the bell. The bird shook its head. The bell fell off the bird’s neck. It fell next to the baby.
The baby picked up the bell. The baby rang the bell. Another blue bird flew in through the window. This blue bird also had blue eyes. The baby had brown eyes. The birds looked at the baby. The baby looked at the birds. The baby rang the bell again. Both birds flew away. The baby started to cry. His mama came into the room. The baby smiled. Mama saw the bell. She asked the baby where the bell came from. The baby pointed at the window.
8. A balloon on the Tall
Today is New Year’s Day. In the morning, Kerry, a little mouse and her mother are going to grandmother’s. She is very happy because she is wearing nice clothes.
“Good morning, Kerry,” a little rabbit sees them, “You look pretty today.”
“Thank you.”
“But, look at your beautiful tail.” says the rabbit, ‘’It is touching the ground.”
“Oh, my god.” says Kerry and she carries her long tail with hands.
Then there comes a dog with a big balloon. “You can’t tail, Kerry?” asks the dog.
“Because it touches the ground. It will be dirty.” “Oh, don’t worry. I can help you.” Then the dog ties a big balloon on Kerry’s tail.
“That’s OK.” says the dog, “Your tail won’t touch the ground again.”
9. The Lion and the Mouse
Once upon a time, there lived a lion in the dense Amazon rainforest. While he was sleeping by resting his big head on his paws, a tiny little mouse unexpectedly crossed by and ran across the lion’s nose in haste. This woke up the lion and he laid his huge paw angrily on the tiny mouse to kill her.
The poor mouse begged the lion to spare her this time and she would pay him back on some other day. Hearing this, the lion was amused and wondered how such a tiny creature could ever help him. But he was in a good mood and in his generosity he finally let the mouse go.
A few days later, a hunter set a trap for the lion while the big animal was stalking for prey in the forest. Caught in the toils of a hunter’s net, the lion found it difficult to free himself and roared loudly in anger.
As the mouse was passing by, she heard the roar and found the lion struggling hard to free himself from the hunter’s net. The little creature quickly ran towards the lion’s trap that bound him and gnawed the net with her sharp teeth until the net tore apart. Slowly she made a big hole in the net and soon the lion was able to free himself from the hunter’s trap.
The lion thanked the little mouse for her help and the mouse reminded him that she had finally repaid the lion for sparing her life before. Thereafter, the lion and the mouse became good friends and lived happily in the forest.
10. The Mischievous Dog
There was once a Dog who was so ill-natured and mischievous that his Master had to fasten a heavy wooden clog about his neck to keep him from annoying visitors and neighbors. But the Dog seemed to be very proud of the clog and dragged it about noisily as if he wished to attract everybody’s attention. He was not able to impress anyone. “You would be wiser,” said an old acquaintance, “to keep quietly out of sight with that clog. Do you want everybody to know what a disgraceful and ill-natured Dog you are?” Notoriety is not fame.
